Contextualization of Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Taiwan, shaped like a sweet potato, is a small island. It is located on the western edge of the Pacific Ocean, across the Taiwan Strait from China. Our hometown, Kaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan. It is a harbor city located in the south of Taiwan with beautiful ocean and mountains.

Life in Kaohsiung is very convenient. You can visit Kaohsiung by plane (We have the international/domestic airport in Kaohsiung.), by train, by high-speed rail, or by bus. You can also travel anywhere in Kaohsiung by MRT or rent a City-bike. The MRT system connects different parts of Kaohsiung. The largest MRT station, Formosa Boulevard Station, has a beautiful famous dome with 4,500 glass panels, which is the largest glass work in the world.

Night markets are special places in Kaohsiung. There are many delicious foods in night markets, like stinky tofu, oyster omelet, rice dumpling, Taiwanese rice sausage, Taiwanese meatball, coffin bread, pearl milk tea, etc. Night markets are food paradises. It is the best place to enjoy local food. In addition to food, there are also fun games, like shooting balloons, pin balls, ring toss games, etc.

Kaohsiung is a city full of love. We have Love River and True Love Harbor. Taking a Love River boat tour is a good way to enjoy Kaohsiung’s beautiful scenery.
